During the job interview, Tom was informed that the position would be in a very remote part of Wales. Upon returning home, Tom tried to deceive Belle into thinking the trip to Wales would just be a holiday, promising her natural beauty and solitude. He revealed that he had found a stone-built cottage miles away from anyone, saying, “It’ll just be me and you and nature.”

Earlier this week, producer Sophie Roper revealed to Digital Spy and other media that this Welsh cottage would be the setting for some very dark scenes between Belle and Tom. “We’ve got a special episode coming up that sees Tom and Belle head off to Wales on a trip together,” she said. “Actually, we recreated Wales in Yorkshire. Our fantastic design team did it. We’ve got a cottage up in the village which we’ve redressed and made into this beautiful Welsh retreat.”
She continued, “The story, set against the backdrop of this beautiful cottage, will be really hard-hitting and difficult at moments. Tom is very much isolating Belle from her family, from her surroundings, from everything she knows and loves. This is, unfortunately, a typical trait of abusers who try to isolate their victims from their support systems.”
