Kate informed Kayla about the cancellation of Body and Soul at the Brady Pub. Kayla recalled how excited Abe had been about the show when he stayed with Steve and her. Kate mentioned that Abe would surely know about the cancellation since he regularly reads every soap magazine and message board. The two women speculated on how Abe was dealing with the loss of his favorite TV family.
At Abe and Paulina’s condo, Abe sat on the sofa with Paulina and wished her a happy Fourth of July. Paulina lamented that it wouldn’t be particularly joyful due to Chanel’s miscarriage. Despite her dislike of the city, Paulina was relieved that they would not be moving to Los Angeles. The mention of LA reminded Abe of Body and Soul, which was filmed there. He was puzzled to find a news program instead of the show when he turned on the television. Paulina hypothesized that the network might have changed the schedule. Before leaving for work, she kissed Abe and teased him about finding ways to entertain himself.
Later, Kate arrived, and Abe started yelling about the network cancelling the show. Kate sadly informed Abe that Body and Soul had been canceled due to behind-the-scenes policy issues. Abe expressed his disappointment that the show ended abruptly without any closure or a thank you to the fans. Kate suggested that the cancellation might reduce competition for their own project. Abe, still upset, pondered the unanswered questions from the show’s storylines, like whether Charlemagne would marry for the 16th time. Kate then proposed that they acquire the rights to Body and Soul and continue the show, given its already established fan base.
At the police station, Stephanie rushed into Jada’s office, seeking help with Everett. Stephanie updated Jada on her encounter with Everett, who was still under Bobby’s control. She believed Jada was the only one who could reach Bobby and begged her to try. Stephanie insisted her motivation was to help Everett, whom she called a good person, not her past relationship with him. Jada, though conflicted, eventually agreed to Stephanie’s request.
At Marina and Jon’s place, Marina checked in with Johnny over the phone. After the call, she answered a knock at the door to find Steve. Steve updated Marina on his conversation with Jada, admitting he had helped Clyde escape but gave Jon’s name in arrest. He cautioned that Jada still believed he had an accomplice. Steve then asked about Jon, who was on a trip to Greece. Marina admitted that Jon had almost killed Steve once, but Steve, recalling past events, promised to bring Jon home despite Marina’s concerns about his probation.
At the Horton house, Julie approached Chad as he reviewed the video of a mysterious woman, hoping she might be Abigail. Julie encouraged Chad to speak with Kayla, who might provide helpful information. Later, in Kayla’s office, Chad showed her the video. Kayla recognized the woman might be Abigail but couldn’t be certain due to the graininess. Chad, needing closure, asked Kayla about Abigail’s last moments and the possibility of a miracle. Kayla acknowledged that miracles had happened before and suggested Chad check with the funeral home about Abigail’s preparation for burial.
After Chad left, Steve informed Kayla that the charges against him had been dropped but mentioned his plans to go to Greece. In Horton Town Square, Stephanie joined Paulina at a table. Paulina thanked Stephanie for her help during the radiation scandal and shared her relief about resuming her city plans. Stephanie warned Paulina not to lose sight of potential PR disasters, hinting at the optics of firing a woman of color and replacing her with a wealthy white man with a known record of corruption.
