Levi is doing well in hospital and is impatient to get home. Mackenzie is by his side every step. Levi worries about having made things worse for Mali when he hears Iluka is in hospital, but she’s not ready to forgive.

Rose reports to Bree that the Allens have been charged with attempted murder and false imprisonment. She admits she didn’t recognise the Mali she saw brawling with Gordie Allen.

Mali and Iluka are affronted by Elandra’s betrayal – nobody in their family usually goes to the police. Elandra stands by her decision, though, believing Mali could have died without her intervention. He’s furious but he lets her stay regardless.

When they arrive at the hospital the following day, Bree breaks the news that Iluka left in the middle of the night. Mali shuns Rose’s offer to help with the search, and soon he finds his brother asleep in the dunes. Mali demands to know what Iluka was thinking by doing a runner.

When Rose sees Iluka, she approaches him to ask for his statement, but he challenges her for letting Mali walk. He questions whether Rose should have arrested her own boyfriend.

Mali offers Iluka a job at the board shop and a home in the Bay. Elandra begs to differ though, pointing out that Iluka needs to take responsibility for turning his life around, not rely on their younger brother.

Surprisingly, Iluka sees her point and resolves to face up to his mistakes, issuing a sincere apology to Levi. He’s more understanding than Mackenzie, who orders him out of her house immediately.

Theo fills Rose in on Iluka’s injury, and she laments to Bree that Mali’s avoiding her. She admits too that she does have a double standard when it comes to her boyfriend. When she finally comes face to face with him, she’s reached a decision – she can’t be in a relationship with someone who treats her like the enemy, so they’re done.
