In a recent heartfelt revelation, Michael Easton shared his reaction to his exit from General Hospital. Michael, who had been a beloved cast member since 2012, faced the difficult news that his character, Finn, was being written off the show. In the world of daytime television, his tenure felt like an eternity, and the news left him understandably wounded.
In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Easton candidly expressed his initial hurt. “You get wounded a little bit,” he admitted. “Part of your head says, ‘Just do the exit material and be done with it.'” However, instead of giving in to those feelings, Easton chose to dig deep and deliver powerful performances, ones that could potentially earn him a 2025 Daytime Emmy.
Easton reflected on his departure with gratitude. He emphasized the importance of not letting negativity take over. “If you let anything else enter your heart, it just becomes like poison,” he said. “That poison will halt you from creating beautiful things going forward.” His sincerity and thankfulness were evident in the video he posted after wrapping up his scenes.
Easton recounted his final moments on set. “My actual last scenes were with Josh Swickard (Chase) in the car. We shot them at the end of the night outside the studio,” he shared. He managed to hold back his tears until the very end. After the shoot, he spent about 45 minutes alone in his dressing room, sitting in the dark. “Everyone had gone home, and they had turned off the lights. I was worried they were going to change my locks and take away my security pass,” he added with a laugh.
As he finally left the studio, Easton walked through the empty hallways, which felt like a ghost town. He took a moment to reflect, saying goodbye to a significant chapter of his life. “Let’s walk out the door and just say goodbye,” he thought.
